Apple Music launch giant next gen studio complex in LA inc live stage and PMC spatial studio room

Apple Music is celebrating a decade of streaming innovation with the launch of a groundbreaking artist studio in Los Angeles, further strengthening its position as a creative hub for the global music industry. Announced just ahead of its 10-year anniversary, the new studio is a bold physical embodiment of the platform’s long-standing commitment to artist-driven content, cutting-edge audio, and immersive fan experiences.

The state-of-the-art studio space, opening this summer in Culver City, California, is Apple Music’s most ambitious creative project yet. Spanning over 15,000 square feet and three floors, the new facility is designed from the ground up to serve as both a creative incubator and an epicenter for audio innovation. Its unveiling comes alongside a week-long celebration on Apple Music Radio, featuring programming from longtime hosts Zane Lowe and Ebro Darden and a countdown of the service’s most-streamed songs.

Artist-First Design and Features

The Los Angeles studio reflects Apple’s core philosophy: empowering creators by giving them access to top-tier tools, spaces, and exposure. Key features include two next-generation radio studios equipped for immersive Spatial Audio playback, a 4,000-square-foot soundstage for live events and multi-camera productions, and a dedicated Spatial Audio mixing room utilizing a 9.2.4 PMC speaker system.

Additional amenities underscore the studio’s function as a one-stop creative ecosystem: private isolation booths support intimate songwriting sessions and podcasting; a social media and photo lab enables real-time content creation; and archival corridors celebrate a decade of influential artist moments on the platform.

“This new studio furthers our commitment to creating a space where artists can create, connect, and share their vision,” said Rachel Newman, co-head of Apple Music. “It’s more than a production facility—it’s a living, breathing part of our artist-first mission.”

A Global Creative Network

Apple Music’s new facility in Los Angeles will serve as the flagship in a growing international network of creative spaces. Studios in cultural capitals like New York, Tokyo, Berlin, Paris, and Nashville are already active, with more on the way. This network is designed to give artists around the world access to consistent, high-quality resources—helping them produce, perform, and share their music on a global stage.

Zane Lowe, Apple Music’s global creative director and longtime radio host, emphasized the significance of this expansion. “When we launched Beats 1, it was a leap of faith,” said Lowe. “We believed in creating a space where artists could tell their stories and fans could feel truly connected. Ten years on, Apple Music Radio is everything we hoped it would be—and this new studio pushes that vision into the future.”

Celebrating a Decade of Innovation

To mark the milestone, Apple Music Radio is broadcasting a full slate of special programming. Kicking off with “Don’t Be Boring: The Birth of Apple Music Radio” on June 30, the broadcast features Lowe, Darden, and special guests revisiting the early days of live radio streaming, artist exclusives, and boundary-pushing interviews.

The celebration continues with “10 Years of Apple Music,” an eight-hour retrospective airing on Apple Music 1. The program highlights the platform’s most iconic moments—from exclusive album drops and surprise live performances to culturally defining interviews and fan-first events.

Capping off the day is “Live: 10 Years of Apple Music,” a three-hour live broadcast from 4–7 p.m. PST. Hosted by Lowe and Darden, the show will feature artists who have been instrumental in shaping Apple Music’s evolution over the past decade.

Note: in addition to studios noted in Europe and US, Apple purchased Platoon in 2018. See the MBW story here.
