Waves launch V16 with ‘enhanced workflow and creative tools’

Waves Audio, the industry leader in professional audio processing, has officially launched Waves V16, the latest iteration of its plugin suite. Designed to enhance productivity and creativity for audio professionals, V16 delivers a suite of updates focused on usability, workflow streamlining, and visual refinement.

Maintaining compatibility with its vast library of over 240 plugins, Waves V16 introduces Auto Makeup Gain to five of its most iconic compressors: CLA-2A, CLA-3A, CLA-76, Abbey Road RS124, and V-Comp. This addition ensures consistent output levels during dynamic adjustments, reducing the risk of loudness spikes that disrupt the mixing flow.

One of the standout updates is the integration of COSMOS Sample Finder as a fully operable plugin within major DAWs. COSMOS now allows in-session sample auditioning matched to project key and tempo, offering faster scan times, automatic grouping of similar samples, and a more intuitive interface—all improvements aimed at smoother creative navigation.

Waves has also responded to user feedback by introducing freeform corner-drag resizing across its entire plugin lineup. This gives producers greater flexibility in tailoring their workspace, whether in-studio or on-the-go.

Additionally, V16 brings refreshed GUIs to five classic plugins, including the V-Series bundle (V-COMP, V-EQ3, V-EQ4), IR-Live Convolution Reverb, and MaxxBass. While the look has evolved to meet modern visual standards, Waves ensures that the sonic character of these tools remains unchanged, preserving the analog warmth.

Fully compatible with the latest DAWs and operating systems, V16 is positioned to meet the needs of today’s music producers, engineers, and content creators. The update builds on Waves’ legacy of technical innovation, honored by multiple industry awards including a Technical GRAMMY and recent TEC and Emmy wins—while leaning into modern production demands.

Waves V16 is available now.

Sky News recently reported that Waves is preparing for a £300m float this year.
